Annual Event Draws Car Enthusiasts from Coast to Coast.
Cars. Friends. Food. Fun.
The "United" theme was no accident. Classic Sunbeam car owners from coast to coast "Unite" once-a-year to renew old friendships, and make new ones. And, to celebrate the passion they have in common -- 50-year-old British sports cars. This year's August event was held in LaCross, Wisconsin.
Participants converged from California, Texas, New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Missouri, Maryland, Michigan & Pennsylvania, just to name a few. Certainly about as a diverse group as you could have fit into a common venue. There were 3 full days of car talk, top down cruising thru the gorgeous Wisconsin landscape, food, drink, sightseeing -- even spirited autocross competition. The event was more like a family reunion than a sports car event for those fortunate enough to be in attendance. As might be expected from vintage automobiles, there were some unplanned mechanical challenges that happened at the least opportune times. And, each time "car buddies" from all over the country came to the rescue and got their fellow "Sunbeamer" up and running.
Next year's "United 39" event is scheduled for September in North Carolina.
